Penrith Swimming Club is proud to announce that three more of its remarkable members have been inducted into the Cumbria Swimming Hall of Fame. At a recent Diddy League event hosted at Penrith Leisure Centre, Ian Powley, Colin Hill, and Chloe Wilcox were honoured for their outstanding contributions to swimming and aquatic sport. Earlier this year, Rosie Huggon and the late Jenny Birtle were also recognised, further cementing Penrith’s legacy in shaping swimming excellence across Cumbria and beyond.

Penrith Swimming Club proudly celebrates Rosie Huggon’s induction into the Cumbria Swimming Hall of Fame, recognising her nearly 60 years of dedication to the sport. A former National Champion and lifesaving representative, Rosie has been instrumental in coaching, fundraising, and club administration. She follows in the footsteps of her late mother, Jenny Birtle, whose lifelong contributions to swimming were also honoured posthumously. Their legacy continues to shape the future of swimming in Penrith and Cumbria.


At the 2025 Cumbria County Championships, Cumbria ASA saw a change in leadership as Rosie Huggon of Penrith Swimming Club officially handed over the presidency to Ian Richardson of Copeland. Ian was presented with his chain of office during the event, marking the beginning of his tenure as Cumbria ASA President.

Continuing its rich legacy dating back to 1881, Penrith Swimming Club is excited to announce the initiation of adult water polo sessions. This reflects the club's commitment to providing diverse opportunities in aquatics, as well as a nod to its history as a breeding ground for exceptional talent.


Penrith Swimming Club stalwart Rosie Huggon hails from a family with a long esteemed association with the club and started swimming when the club was based at Frenchfield, swimming in the river Eamont. In 2021, Rosie received life membership from Penrith Swimming Club in honour for her commitment to developing swimming in the local area.


Luke Brown, received a Platinum Champions Award from Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Charles, Prince of Wales.


Penrith Swimming Club celebrates the difference volunteers make to their club and thanks to them for all their time and dedication. Like many sports clubs, Penrith Swimming Club is run entirely by volunteers.
