EDEN swimmers Charlie Harbot, of Appleby Swimming Club, and Colin Slee, of the Penrith club, have been selected to play water polo for Cumbria in a junior men’s tournament at the Manchester Aquatic Centre tomorrow.

Charlie, a student at Penrith’s Ullswater Community College, also played for Cumbria in a 15 and under tournament in November against other county teams from the north of England.

This is the first time that Colin, who is a lifeguard at Penrith Leisure Centre, has been selected to play for Cumbria. He does, however, come from a water polo family and his father, Ziggy, played for Penrith and now coaches polo once a month in the town.

Chloe Wilcox was also selected at a recent inter-district tournament to train with the Great Britain junior women’s‚ team.

Chloe, who lives at Reagill, is at the water polo academy at Grantham studying A-levels. She is a member of Carlisle Water Polo Club, Sheffield women’s team and the Sedgefield 75 club.

She has been playing national league water polo for Sheffield first team this season and they are currently in top position in the league.

In August, she played for them in a tournament in Belgium.
